About Ilam
Ilam takes its name from Ilam Hall in Staffordshire, England, and is home to the University of Canterbury's main campus, which moved here in 1975. The original Ilam Homestead burned down in 1910; it was rebuilt by Edgar Stead, who established the azalea and rhododendron gardens still there today.
