About Papanui
Papanui sits at the junction of Papanui Road into the city, Main North Road heading up to North Canterbury, and Harewood Road out towards the airport, which puts our workshop at 54 Vagues Road right in the middle of routes most Papanui locals already drive every day.
The name comes from the Māori for “big plain.” It started out as a sawmilling village in the 1850s, and tramlines reached it by 1880, which drove decades of growth after that. Today it's also home to the Christchurch City Council's Papanui Service Centre and Library on Langdons Road.
